Gita is an experienced mindfulness teacher and certified meditation instructor that has been studying Buddhism philosophy and meditation practices for over 25 years. She has studied with well-known meditation masters and teachers both nationally and internationally; attended many courses and retreats, and has graduated to teach mindfulness meditation after years of intensive studies. Further, she has extensive successful management and finance experience both as a high executive and an entrepreneur. Gita’s purpose is to help make a difference for the better in people’s quality of life and happiness, both individually and collectively as a society. She believes mediation will provide a tool for balance and calmness to each individual. People can live in peace with themselves and their surroundings; living compassionate and respectful lives; nurturing and healing; growing in cooperation with each other and life. Gita teaches that ultimately there is one energy force within all of us, that we are all one and many, parts of the same source. This source of intelligence and compassion is within each and every one of us. It affects the reality we live in according to our individual and collective perceptions and understandings. She senses a huge responsibility to help contribute to this understanding by educating and training the mind, in order to help bring balance and harmony for the benefit of all by offering these unique teachings.
Gita completed six-month long meditation teacher training course with Willpower Institute in Canada & Thailand and obtained the Meditation Instructor Certificate; She has completed the training at Mindful School in Emeryville, CA for Mindful Educator Essentials, Difficult Emotions, and Mindful Communication. She successfully completed the Mindful Teacher Year-Long certification program, class of 2017-2018 with Mindful Schools with the Granting Title of Mindful Schools Certified Mindfulness Instructor (CMI). Gita enjoys sharing her passion while helping her students to learn this profound mind training practices, which brings clarity and awareness to their mind, whether in-person or through online meditation.
My Spiritual Journey
30 Years of Experience
On September 2013 I have attended the six-month Meditation Instructor course at Willpower Institute located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. It was a unique meditation course that you cannot find it anywhere else in the Country. I had taken many different meditation courses with different teachers and masters in the past, however, none of them taught me in-depth study like the meditation teacher training program offered by The Willpower Institute.
In this six-month course, we studied three handbooks and did meditate an hour every day Monday to Friday, and we were instructed to meditate in the weekends at home as well, the same way we did in the class. The Books have been designed to teach you what exactly happens to your mind when you meditate, and how you can gain mind power, become concentrated, and keep your emotions under control when you meditate daily.
After we finished this six-month meditation course, we traveled to Thailand to attend the Meditation Retreat to Doi – Inthanon for two weeks, and we attended a 4 days retreat on the mountains. This trip changed my life forever, we were hiking, walking and meditating on the mountains during the day, and had group meditation sessions and talks at night, together with more than 4,500 people from all around Thailand, United States and Canada, with our master Luangphor, other teachers, and the group of top rank Willpower monks that accompanied him.
My remarkable times over there were the nights when we had our group meditation techniques. The meditation instruction shared the energy with over 4500 people at the same time, there was a great power, luminosity, stillness, and pure awareness, which gave you the sense of great peace and calmness, that you can never imagine one can get on its own meditation practice!
During the hiking trip on the mountains we were observing our thoughts and emotions, we were being present in the moment. The temperature on the mountain was around 38 C, it was very hot up there, and not an easy walk, as a matter of fact, it was pretty tough to continue walking especially in the afternoons when we had already walked for a few hours and had become exhausted with heat waves and the long walk.
However as we were watching ourselves and our thoughts and meditating all the way, we were so present that by observing our minds, any emotions like tiredness, exhaustion, and so on had been looked at and let go at the moments when they arrived! Therefore we would be able to gain energy to continue our walk, clear and transform our minds.
It was a great test for each of us to see how this training of the mind for the past six months, with the group in the classroom, worked for each of us, and how our minds now had the training that we were able to stay calm despite the tough situations we had been through on the mountain’s walk.
The experience was amazing, one of a kind and life-changing. It gave me the sense of responsibility to pass this unique practice on, as Luangphor advised us in his books and talks to teach meditation to others, and let everyone get the great benefits of this simple yet profound practice of learning to teach mindfulness.
I wish to thank Willpower Institute for offering this education program for free to whoever is interested in continuing education, it is a great gift that one can give to him/ herself. It is something that will impact one’s entire life, and help one to be able to better manage his/her emotions, and live a happier, healthier and more harmonious life, both personally and professionally.

My 8 year old son, my 6 year old daughter, and I were desperate to find some peace in our afternoons. I have been meditating for the past two years, mostly using guided meditation apps and attending group sessions. Although I benefited from those forms of meditation, it was not until I took a 9 week personalized mindful meditation course taught by Gita Nilforoush that my practice became disciplined and I finally learned what mindfulness really means. Gita’s 8-week meditation course gave me the tools to effectively incorporate mindfulness into my daily challenges. As an experienced meditator, I did not think that meditation courses had much to offer me. However, I did struggle with consistency in my practice, which is arguably the most important component.
Gita took mindfulness down to the bare essentials, which made it easy for me to stay on track with my practice. Now I have a solid regular practice and I owe that to Gita’s simple program. Her relaxing presence was reassuring, helping me to build my daily routine. I still use her mini meditations daily; they are quick and leave me feeling refreshed and ready to attack my day!
I suffered from anxiety and panic attack almost everyday in two years. I tried everything to reduce my pain and make them go away from me . I was under many medications for my panic attack and anxiety which I couldn’t live without them . My biggest fear was I running out of my pills or forgot to have them somewhere I go. I have personally tried many meditation programs before taking Gita’s meditation classes, ranging from online apps such as Calm and Headspace, to several in-person meditations classes. Hi I wanted to share the experience I have got when I was taught Mindfulness Meditation for the very first time by Gita , although it was just for one session, I realized by closing my eyes , taking a few deep breaths and concentrating on the tip of my nose…for around 20 minutes, I feel calmer , become more relax and happy. Since then I meditate every day after work on my way home on the train, and by doing it I gain energy and don’t feel tired at all after long hours working.
