In this meditation, we cultivate an attitude of kindness towards oneself. You bring your attention on your breathing and repeat to yourselves, “May I be well, may I be happy, may I be peaceful.” Then you mentally extend that phrase to your loved ones, your acquaintances, and even people whom you feel negative emotions toward. The purpose of the practice is to create an atmosphere of acceptance and unconditional love starting from within.
Self-Compassion means treating oneself with kindness and care rather than judgment, being mindful of one’s own painful feelings, and understanding one’s suffering as part of the common human condition. Also, many studies have found this type of meditation is associated with well-being in adults, young people, and kids as well.
